: This series of images focuses on St. Augustine's sister city of Avilés, Spain, which of course is the last surname of the founder of San Agustín in La Florida, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. The professor-photographer toured this city quickly in 2016 with a special eye for those aspects of Avilés that related closely to its sister city in Florida. And he found them! And more. In his view, Avilés is a delightly coastal industrial, commercial, and tourist city with a perfect climate situated, as it is, on a river near the famous Costa Verde of the Cantabrian coast with a backdrop of the nearby and majestic—and very green—Picos de Europa bordering the city on the south.
