Comments: The portion of the Avilés River with the industry and docks on the far side is another recognition of St. Augustine because it is called the "Dársena de San Agustín" (St. Augustine Docks). On the right is the magnificent modern architecture of the Oscar Niemeyer International Culture Center, which was, as its name suggests, designed by the renowned Brazilian architect of the same name. It is a major venue for concerts, actors, and United Nations dignitaries, and it hosts the including winners of Spain's major national cultural prize, the Príncipe de Asturias award. For a closer view of the cultural center, see: => Avilés Page 10a.
Humanities question: Where else in Latin America, as studied in this course, do we find major architecture designed by Oscar Niemeyer?
