Comments: This church is the Iglesia de Sabugo, just outside what once was the walled the historical center (casco histórico) of the city. It is also known as la iglesia (vieja) de Santo Tomás de Canterbury; Nearby there is also a new neo-gothic church of St. Thomas of Canterbury. The church pictured here is a fine example of, what many art historians classify as late Romanesque architecture begun in the first decades of the 13th century.
Humanities question: Briefly evaluate this architecture with examples of churches from 16th century Latin America and also with the Spanish-style architecture found in St. Augustine.
