This series of images (WTL©) is based on a travel-research trip WTL took to Chichén Itzá years ago when he was teaching Latin American culture and humanities at Cal Poly. All of these photos were taken with a Canon A-1 analog camera; he digitized them and formatted them with Photoshop for this on-line slide show. He flew from California to Mérida, capital of Yucatán, México (see the map in #1). After visiting Mérida and the Gulf coast at Cancún (see the slide show for Mérida and inner Yucatán), he rented a car (not recommended then, though more possible in 2016), and went first to Uxmal. Afterwards, he visited Chichén Itzá. In this sequence of photos you will see some of the principal aspects of this ancient Mayan site along, and you will follow his steps as he discovered Chichén the first time.
