Notes: Looking out from the top of the central pyramid we see the Templo de los Guerreros (temple of the warriors). The columns supported numerous buildings that lined the central plaza. Panther, eagle, and serpent motifs are sculpted in/on the wall of this temple. The principal gods worshiped here were Quetzalcóatl and Chac. Chac is the Mayan name of Tláloc, the Aztec god of rain and other things. Quetzalcóatl is the Plumed Serpent god of the Toltecs and Aztecs. In Mayan this god was known as Kulkulkán or Gucumatz, depending on the Mayan dialect.
