Comments: The Plaza de Armas is at the power center of old Colonial Havana. On the far side sits the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales; to the far right is the Palacio del Segundo Cabo; to the right is the Castillo de la Real Fuerza; behind the professor-photographer is both El Templete and the Neo-Classical former mansion of the Condes de Santovenia. For these places see: => Havana #14a.
Humanities question: According to standard Spanish colonial urban development there is something more or less missing from this central plaza (square). What is "missing?" Hint: Compare the central plaza in a couple of other Spanish colonial cities; for example, => Mérida #2; => Lima #4; => Mexico City; => Antigua #2; and many more.
