Comments: Here you see one side of the cathedral's high altar (altar mayor). The style is quintessential Spanish baroque. Featured is an abundance of solid gold leaf. The reason why the photographer did not take a photo of the entire high altar is that the reflection from the gold leaf is so intense that it would have overwhelmed the analog camera's lens. This "overwhelming", "invasive" effect is precisely what Spanish baroque art aimed to achieve.
