Lima, Perú (1)

Source: WTL photo taken on the highway from Lima's international airport on the drive to downtown Lima.
Comments: The Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez is to the northwest of the center of the city and about 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean just north of the port city of Callao. This photo gives a dramatic idea about how little the annual average precipitation is in and around Lima: 2 inches total per year. What little precipitation is recorded there comes from a constant fog called la garúa. In other words, Lima is situated on a coastal desert.
