Comments: From 1796 to 1801, Jorge (or, Georges) Biassou and his family (wife Romana Jacobo, mother, sisters, brother, a slave, and 25 others, for whom he assumed responsibility) lived in this house, which, at the time, was known as the Salcedo House on (currently-named) St. George Street (Spanish street name: Calle Real). As reconstructed now, the building houses Whetstone's Chocolates. As David Nolan (http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/43a/380.html) comments on line, no marker in St. Augustine currently celebrates Biassou's residence in San Agustín. However, as you will see if you follow the embedded series of photographs of this house, the Salcedo name does appear on a sign marginally associated with the house. See: => Salcedo House Series.
