Comments: On September 18, 2015, king Felipe VI of Spain and his wife, queen Letizia, visited St. Augustine, Florida, on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the Spanish founding of the city of St. Augustine in 1565 by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés (a city in the northern region of Spain, Asturias), who, like doña Letizia, was from the Spanish region of Asturias. The difference between Menéndez and doña Letizia is that he was an aristocrat, whereas she was a commoner--a leftist commoner and a famous TV reporter on TVE1, Spain's national premier TV channel; that is, she was a commoner before she married into the monarchy of Felipe's Borbón royal household.
In the photo above, king Felipe is the tall man toward the left wearing a gray suit. He is 6'6" tall. Here is is seen with his body guards and dignataries from St. Augustine on a private visit to the U.S. National Historical Park of the Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine's most famous historical site and tourist attraction. Queen Letizia is barely visible walking to the king's left and surrounded by his and her bodyguards.
