Comments: In an online statement to Today@SantaFe (The daily news source for the Santa Fe College community), Ms. García Ferraz said the following:

"As a Cuban-American artist, my work is grounded around the ideas of place/displacement, memories, the placement of culture, and the influences of popular culture.
All of these paintings and drawings were created or are re-creations of existing buildings around the world. I think about structures that were built to last for centuries, and habitats of prayers or learning, and then map them with color and drawings. Each piece address (sic) a particular space that may be familiar or unknown, the sacred, the fragile buildings enduring our own fate.
This exhibit features some large format pieces 70" x 70", others a more intimate 22" x 22". Some of the larger drawings were made with wax, gesso, graphite, and inks. All of these works were made in my Little Havana studio."
