Comment: In addition to sunbathing and general relaxation, one of the main activities to be encountered on Bahia's beaches is music-making. This includes the famous Afro-Brazilian genre of candomblé with its pulsating and more or less hypnotic rhythms. In addition to drums of all kinds, baianos (Bahia residents) play the traditional four-stringed ukulele-like instrument called a cavaquinho.
