Comments: At the center of this image we see the giant monument to François de Laval, the first bishop of de Québec (1674).
Humanities Questions: (A) In what way do the lamp posts, steps, and building (note the architectural style) in the background form an appropriate (or inappropriate) context for the monument (think to whom it is dedicated) in the center? (B) What is the effect (mistake or not) of the amount of gray sky at the top of the image in the totality of the image's composition. (Clearly, the professor-photographer cropped the original image to place focus on this cultural icon of Québec. Note: Québec's great Francophone university is called the Université de Laval.)
