Le Québec (25)

Comments: This is a monument and statue dedicated to Marie Rollet (1617-1649) and her children. Originally, Champlain dedicated this location as a cemetery, but later a Catholic bishop changed it into a sumptuous palace for himself. In 1883, the episcopal palace burned down and was replaced by a memorial park; for exemple, to the memory of this pioneer and her children. (Champlain, by the way, was a consummate humanitarian, humanist, and defender of children. No doubt he would approved of this monument.)
