Comments: The Inca justice system was both lenient and severe. How is that possible? Most common crimes were punished lightly. But major crimes (murder, treason) were punishable only by death. Here you are looking at the central execution complex. Inca stone carvers fashioned figurative shapes of a condor, the largest bird on earth, out of the granite of Machu Picchu. On the ground in the center you can see the condor's head. The smooth stone are the wings rising to each side of the head.
