Comments: Following the previous Mexico City page (#17), one might think that this online textbook has made a sudden shift in this sequential presentation of Mexican humanities, but that is only partly true. In Spanish this life size display is known as a Belén (a Bethlehem) because, according to Christian tradition Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. So, a major insurance company with its headquarters annually erects a beautiful and spectacular nativity scene on the sidewalk in front of its building. In other words, this Christmas display is still part of the Paseo de la Reforma as much as the skyscrapers are in pages 14 through 17.
Humanities topic: Identify the typically Mexican elements in this nativity scene, including especially the object in the upper left.
