Image: The façade of El Péndulo, one of the most important bookstores in Mexico City. It is located in the Zona Rosa, an upscale neighborhood near the Paseo de la Reforma. Home page for: => El Péndulo.
Comments: There are not as many bookstores throughout Mexico as there are in the United States. The biggest bookstore chain is run by Sanborns, the big department store chain. El Péndulo calls itself a Cafebrería, which is a blend of a café and a librería (bookstore), much like Borders and other American bookstores have cafes inside their doors. In the view of the professor-photographer, the best bookstore in the environs of Mexico City is the Librería Parnaso de Coyoacán, which is the neighborhood where Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul is located.
