Comments: Behind this altar (this photo is not showing detail of the high altar, although, at first glance, it may appear to be so) is the choir, which, according to Medieval and Renaissance Spanish church tradition, is located toward the middle or the back of the central nave. When the professor-photographer took this hand-held photo (flash is forbidden in this and many other cultural monuments), people were gathering for a mass that was going to be held in front of this altar. Out of respect for the congregants, he tried to aim mostly above the heads of those present.
Humanities topic: Identify and describe the style of this altar.
