Comments: This room served the purpose of allowing monks to sit in the niche next to the standing model of a monk, open the wood window next to the sitting place and speak to a visitor on the outside. The Augustinian Order is a religious order of the Roman Catholic church that follows a rule of community life based in the sermons of Saint Augustine of Hippo, most especially inspired by a letter he wrote to a community of women in 423 C.E. The order was officially constituted in the 13th century. Augustinian communities' rules were less rigid than those of the strict monastic orders.
