Comments: This monastery/convent was begun in 1536, and construction was completed in 1560. Augustinian monks arrived from Spain, and they were given this site at the small Aztec village of Acolman where they could build their monastery, the principal objective of which was the evangelization of the local native population. Today the "Exconvento de Acolman" is a museum run by Mexican national INAH (Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia).
