Uxmal (16)

Notes: This is part of the Quadrangle of the Doves (Cuadrángulo de las Palomas). When I visited this site it had barely been explored, as you can see. Since then, much more of this complex of four buildings has been excavated. Although this scene now looks somewhat different (more exposed), nevertheless, it is worth seeing it in its once primitive state. The name comes from the fact that the first Spaniards to see this building thought it resembled a dovecot.
