Notes:
Left: this is the façade of the conquistador Montejo's palace. Notice the elegant Renaissance style around the principal portal; above, on the second level we see an aspect of early Spanish Renaissance style--a style favored by old-family, early 16th century, conquistadors--called Plateresque. Also, notice, at the top right of this particular entrance way, the bas relief statue of a conquistador. Also, notice the interior patio leading to a garden beyond, all on the inside of this mansion, which, nowadays houses a bank.
Right: the street sign says "Paseo de Montejo". The building is another example of a grand nineteenth-century mansion built with sisal-derived fortune.
