Comments: Here are two views of the same Ceiba tree. The Mayas considered it their "holy tree of life," and, as such it was viewed as the world axis (or axle). Its name in Maya is Ya'ascche'. It grows up to 230 feet high and its diameter can reach 7 feet. In 1955, it was declared Guatemala's national tree.
