Comments: Here is one of the pillars. Notice the writing up and down the pillar. Those are lists of some of the names of the desaparecidos.
Humanities questions: What do you think about the meaning and effect of placing these pillars in front of the Catedral de Santiago? What kinds of items that are possibly parallel to these pillars from the pre-Columbian era in Latin America do they remind you of? (Hints, they record historical names and they seem to be standing guard.)
