Antigua (5j)

Image: A dressed polychrome wood statue of Jesus carrying the cross on the road to the Crucifixion at the entrance to the church's chapel. The ruined cathedral is situated to the left of this image.
Comments: In addition to being located in this church, this is one of a number of religious statues that parishioners place on a platform and parade through the streets of Antigua during Holy Week (la Semana Santa). Remember that the art of polychrome sculpture is one of the major achievements of the Spanish and Portuguese humanities during the Renaissance.
