Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and His Galleon (10)

reenactment

Sources: Photos by WTL© (2015).
Image: Opposite the stage (see image #9) is/was the viewing stand filled with civic and ecclesiastical dignitaries. A priest is giving a homily just before he blessed the entire event and the crowd about half of whom appeared (to the photographer-professor) to be Catholics.
Comment: Observe that this event is taking place on the grounds of the actual Catholic Nombre de Dios mission site. Other places on the grounds house the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Leche with its adjacent cemetery.
Humanities Question: What do you think about the collaboration/mixture of civic, historical, and religious elements in the 450th reenactment?
