Cuernavaca Cathedral (2)

Source: WTL photo© taken on site in the Cathedral of Cuernavaca.
Image: A view of the cathedral taken from the left of the current main entrance.
Comments: It is interesting to note that this door is on the building's north side, while the usual great entrance is on the west side around to the right. However, this entrance is used much less than the north door except for special Catholic holiday masses.
Questions: What are the main features of the architectural style you see in this photograph? To what period of Latin American architecture does this building belong? What is the heavy external arch seen in the foreground left of this photo called?
