Comment: In Havana #25, it is noted that "the building's interior is not as remarkable as its exterior." While the façade is late Spanish Baroque, in this image you see the simple elegance of the building's 18th-century Neo-Classical style. Furthermore, in this image we see evidence of the parish's original name, the Catedral de la Virgen María de la Inmaculada Concepción. Notice the depiction of the Virgen Mary (Santa María) as the immaculate queen of heaven in the fresco at the top of the back or high altar wall.
Note, here we see no evidence of Columbus.
