Here is the first stanza of Neruda's poem, Cóndor, with the original Spanish version on the left and Jack Schmitt's translation on the right:

En su ataúd de hierro vive
entre las piedras oxidadas
nutriéndose de herraduras.
In its iron coffin it dwells
among the rusty stones
feeding on horseshoes.
