Comment: Bahia is built on two levels, the lower city by the beaches and the port and the upper city, which, in the beginning, was an idea location for a fortified Portuguese settlement. You can see the other side of the bay in the distance. The city's current population is about 2,600,000. It is Brazil's fourth largest city.
