Aztec Art (1)

Source: WTL© tourist photo taken at MNA in 2007.
Comments: Here is what a typical tourist-photographer (i.e., the professor-photographer) sees upon stepping inside the Sala Azteca. On the floor is an outline of the map of México with blocked areas just behind the man's feet showing the principal areas represented by the art in this vast room. In the background you see the famous Calendar Stone or Sun Stone, as it is more properly known nowadays (la Piedra del Sol). The woman on the right is a professor at the University of Florida, and she is the photographer's wife, which is why, with her permission--even though she was also a scholar/tourist--she can appear in an online photo. She is standing in the museum's area of the Mayan sculptures.
