Image: A mural painting of St. Christopher above a confessional at the rear of the church's nave.
Comments: According to Catholic lore St. Christopher was a giant who carried the child Jesus across a river to safety on the other bank. Further development of the tradition led to paintings on a giant scale on the walls of European churches usually over doors. Pious belief felt that if one looked on this image (which is why it was so big), one would not die during the following twelve months.
