Comments: A grand French-Canadian house on the north side of the Square Saint-Louis park. Notice the gray stone, which predominante in traditional buildings throughout Québec province, and the quintessentially French mansarde roof. The mansarde roof style consists of two roof planes (or broken roof panel: comble brisé) on each side of the peak. In this photo, the second roof plane is out of view due to the angle of the photograph. This architectural style or feature is attributed to François Mansart in 1630-1646.
Humanities Question: State your own reaction to this (these) houses. Do you like mansarde roofs?
