Comments
: Using the above painting as a fine example of Janine Carreau's own individual creative work, Marshall Soules says this about her work in general; that is, as her work has an affinity with Gauvreau's work, but is independently her own: "Janine Carreau's works map landscapes. One sees in them fields, lakes, a horizon, fences--animated by Castaneda's perception of mystical forces and the power of transformation [...] We are witnessing an art that turns our vision in all directions, that leads us to see through motifs and layers of light, in order to lead us into a different, sunny, joyful world stripped of customary conventions. No excuses!" (translation from French by WTL; Pierre Gauvreau; Passeur de modernité, p. 131).
Humanities Question: (A) Referring to details in the Soules quotation above, analyze Carreau's painting; (B) do you agree with his insight into her works as exemplified by this canvas?
