Comments: This is an 18th century Spanish painting of San Miguel (Saint Michael). Notice the ornate gilded baroque frame. Saint Michael is one of the saints who battled most vigorously against sin and evil, which spiritual battle is one of the main raisons d'être of Catholic convents and monasteries.
