Comments: An inner passage in the convent. The walls of various sections of this vast convent (over 20,000 square feet) were painted different colors in order to indicate relative distance from the outside (secular) world. Red indicated close proximity to the outside world (danger, sin, bad, evil). The core of the convent farthest from the outside walls was white (safety, purity, good). Blue was reserved for ritual holy spaces.
