La Casa Azul (7)

Photograph: Mexican tourists, who let me take a photograph of them being photographed in front of a display that says, in English, "Frida and Diego lived in this house, 1929-1954".
Comments: Frida's mother disapproved of her marriage with Diego Rivera. They were compatible in terms of their talents, their passions, their extramarital affairs, their stormy temperaments, and their leftist politics; yet they were opposites in terms of their physical natures: he was big, powerful; she was petite and injured. Due to such a difference, they were known as "the elephant and the dove". Diego Rivera was a prolific womanizer, whereas Frida Kahlo was bisexual. Due to such frictions, their living quarters were often in separate rooms or separate places. See, for example, Diego Rivera's mausoleum and museum: => Anahuacalli.
