Diego Rivera (26)

Source: WTL research files.
Fresco: "Electric Welding" (fresco on reinforced steel concrete, 1931).
Comments: This is the panel immediately to the right of the previous work (<= Diego Rivera, #25). This fresco depicts a scene in an electric power plant. The depiction of machines as æsthetic objects is one of the tenets of a core period and aspect of (European and United States) modern art (1920-1940), of which Diego Rivera was a master.
Humanities Questions: What aspects of this fresco communicate the "modernity" the artist is attempting to convey? What aspects of this work are educational? What aspects of this work are art? How does the medium contribute to the essence of this work?
