Comment: Here you see the intricate Plateresque detail of the façade. The core of this sculpture in stone is the tree of life, which is supporting the crest of the Reyes Católicos (i.e., the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel and Fernando). Due to the period when this building was constructed and when the façade was created, the style is also known as Isabeline, for it shows the first signs of the Renaissance in Spain, a style which would be exported to the New World. The sculptors involved in the building are Fray Alonso de Burgos and Gil de Siloé.
