Image: Here you see one part of the outer staircase of Tlachihualtepetl, the Great Pyramid of Cholula.
Comments: According to a Spanish priest who studied Aztec mythology in the 16th century, the Aztecs maintained that Xelhua, one of the pre-Aztec race of giants built this pyramid after escaping from a great pre-historic flood similar to the one in the biblical story of Noah and his ark by climbing Tlaloc's mountain in what the Aztecs thought of as the earthly paradise.
Humanities Topic: Compare and contrast what you see here with pyramids at Teotihuacan, Tenochtitlán, Chichén Itzá, and Tikal.
