Comments: Here are two more views of the Great Pyramid / Magician's Pyramid of Uxmal. When we climb to the top we will enter the temple of the god that was honored by this pyramid. Contrary to what one might think, the (holy or sacred) temple is not the pyramid itself, but rather is only the construction at the very top. The architectural style is called "Chenes" (chen > Maya for "well", which dominates this region of Yucatán, as we see at => Chichén Itzá #16. In the Chenes style, profuse sculptural decoration covers the façade. In fact, the entire façade of this pyramid intends to represent or suggest the god Chaac (often spelled Chac, which spelling refers to something else). Chaac is the Mayan name for the god of rain.
