Tikal (24)

Comments: At the left we see some Spanish tourists climbing the central stairway of the Gran Pirámide. The humanities (history of architecture) focus of this photo is seen in the dark stone to the right of the stairway. What is exposed here are this pyramid's five successive construction levels. In other words, the rulers of the Mundo Perdido rebuilt this pyramid five times by constructing newer levels over each previous form of the pyramid. For a couple more view of the Gran Templo, see: => Tikal #24a.
