Tikal (19a)

Comments: Telephoto view of the temple at the top of what is called Templo V and its roof comb. This temple was built by the 29th emperor of Tikal, Yax Ain II (768-792), who built this pyramid to honor his father, Yik'in Chan K'awil (734-766), who built Temple IV, and his grandfather, the great Hasaw Chan K'awil (682-734), who built Temples I and II. It is just possible to make out Yax Ain II's giant features in what is left of the roof comb sculpture.
