Guatemala City (5)

Source: WTL© digital photograph (2008) taken on site in Guatemala City.
Building: The Main Post Office (Palacio de Correos).
Comments: The Post Office's architectural style is both neo-Moorish and neo-Classical. It is often said that this is the most-photographed building in Guatemala City.
Humanities questions: Since this is an official government building, what does its style tell you about Guatemala's official self image? What is your reaction to the Post Office building? What is your reaction to the entire photograph?
Speculation: Would it be better to teach the style of this monumental building if the professor-photographer were to use PhotoShop to erase everything that interferes with appreciating the building itself?
