Comment: On the left, you see Dr. Schraibman of Washington University in St. Louis outside the kosher butcher shop in Old Havana surrounded by a number of Cubans. On the right, you see Dr. é Schraibman and Leonardo Padura at the counter in the butcher shop; the latter was researching Jews in this neighborhood for a novel he was writing. The shop was in the last stages of a complete remodel when this visit took place. In the upper right of the photo below you can see the Hebrew sign for kosher butcher.
