Comments: In addition to being a prolific painter, Botero is also a renowned sculptor. In 1992, during the international recognition of the five-hundredth anniversary of Columbus' discovery/encounter with islands and peoples in the Caribbean, Botero exhibited sculptures like this one up and down the boulevard seen in this photograph. The one sculpture that remains permanently in this location is the one you see here.
