Comments: Now, let us focus on the sculpture itself. The location is the Plaza Escandalera in Oviedo. It is the principal sculpture of over one hundred that have been erected in Oviedo during since 1990, in addition, of course, to the public statues that the city has erected for the last half millennium. This statue is nearly 7 feet high (excluding the base) and weighs about a half ton. Botero created it in about 1989 and it was erected in 1996.
