Rio de Janeiro (22b)

Comments: A view of the entrance to Rio's (Catholic) Catedral Metropolitana. If you look carefully in the center about 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the photo you can see a Catholic crucifix, which is suspended from the rectangular cross-like windows far above. On each of four sides at 90 degrees apart, there are stained glass windows that are 60 meters (197 feet) high. The light inside the cathedral, therefore, seems like a rainbow of light.
Humanities Questions: How do you explain the symbolism of the stained glass windows and the fact that there are four of them?
