Comment: This is a close-up of the previous photograph from a slightly different angle. In the foreground you see the entrance to Rio's subway (o Metrô Rio). The sign says that the subway "is working for you from Monday through Saturday rom 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The system is most useful from Copacabana to downtown. During Carnaval the subway runs 24/7. The cars are air-conditioned, clean, comfortable, and they move quickly. Cars also have Portuguese-English signs, maps, and loudspeaker. (But remember, like all subway systems in the world, even the best ones, one should be very careful when traveling late at night and through certain neighborhoods.)
