Comment: This statue is carved out of granite. It is visible from almost everywhere in Rio de Janeiro. It is 125 feet hight, and it was sculpted by a team led by French sculptor Paul Landowdky in 1931.
Humanities topic and question: Describe this statue's meaning by looking at what the sculptor chose to depict and what style he employed. What does the statue's location and size communicate?
